I advise established service business owners in Chicago on growth and operations. Separately, I acquire service businesses to own and operate for the long term — on my own and alongside other operators.
I do two separate things. I advise service business owners on growth and operations, and I acquire service businesses to own and operate. The two stay independent — advisory clients are not acquisition targets.
I work with owners on sales and business development, pricing, hiring, and operations — the practical work of growing. Most engagements are a monthly retainer, sometimes an equity-based arrangement. Around ten focused hours a month, organized around clear priorities rather than endless meetings.
I'm working to acquire an established service business to own and operate myself. I also partner with other operators on their acquisitions, helping them find and close the right business. In both cases the focus is long-term ownership, not flipping.
I'm an operator based in West Town, Chicago, and I run 606 Systems.
My background is in enterprise sales and business development at Cisco, and before that Accenture. Earlier, I served in the US Army. I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and hold an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Most service business owners are excellent at their craft but stretched thin. As an advisor, my role is straightforward: help the owner build a stronger, more valuable business. Acquiring and operating businesses is something I pursue on a separate track.
